This piece is third in an imaginative series that was born from a fantasy of swimming up to lily pad vegetation in a pond stimulated by a visit to Monet’s waterlily pond, Giverny.
I began with liquid art materials that flowed and intermingled with water, ink, and water color I applied with a large brayer. With a smaller brayer, I loosely created flowers and when I had a composition I liked, I refined all the forms with soft pastel.
Tourmaline Pond 3 can be purchased separately or in combination with one or two others from the series to create either a triptych or diptych.
This piece is framed with a contemporary white wash frame.
